Shoprite started operations in Nigeria in december 2005 when it opened its first  outlet at the Palms shopping centre along Lekki expressway and Today it is regarded as the place to shop In Lagos Nigeria
The Shoprite brand started in South Africa as a small chain of supermarkets in 1979,it gained valuable experience from selling to the emerging market. Today, the Shoprite chain remains the core business of the Shoprite Group of Companies and its main brand. Over the years, it has also become one of South Africa’s most trusted brands.
Shoprite's winning philosophy is to offer customers a convenient shopping experience in clean stores where customers can be sure to pay their lowest prices on their basic food and household requirements.
Its operational strategy has seen the Shoprite brand expand into the African market outside of South Africa where its population has grown from one store in Lusaka, Zambia in 1995, to 71 stores in 16 countries today. The South African operation comprises 309 Shoprite stores while the Nigerian operation currently has two with the plans of opening 20 more in the next two years.
With the widest range of local and international brands and a world class shopping experience, all at the lowest prices - it is no wonder that Shoprite is Nigeria's favourite Supermarket!

The head office is at The Palms Shopping Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos while the second outlet is at  Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall,Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, off Bode Thomas Street,Surulere, Lagos
