Governor Dave Umahi
David Nweze Umahi (known popularly as Dave Umahi, born January 1, 1964) is the current Governor Of Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
From the period of October 2014 - April 2015, he was involved in a long running fight with his boss Chief Martin Elechi on the political future of the state,[2] as Umahi accused the governor of failing to support him in his quest to become Governor of Ebonyi State. This crisis which led to Umahi taking over the party structures of the PDP in the state with the backing of Dr.Sam Egwu and Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The crisis generated from the infighting between these two political bigwigs almost threw the state into a state of emergency as the state House of Assembly was torched by arsonists, this didn't deter the state lawmakers who were loyalists of the Deputy Governor to begin impeachment proceedings against the governor;Martin Elechi. President Goodluck Jonathan later waded into the issue when he called a meeting in which he urged all parties to eschew violence and work hand in hand for the success of the PDP in the state. On April 12, 2015, after the conclusion of voting in Ebonyi state, Umahi was declared winner and returned as the Governor-elect of Ebonyi State
In January 2015, he donated a transformer to the Hausa community in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
