Governor Ayo Fayose

Governor Ayo FayosePeter Ayodele Fayose (born 15 November 1960) is the current governor of Ekiti State in Nigeria . He was governor from 29 May 2003 to 16 October 2006.

Fayose grew up in Ibadan, Oyo State where he attended Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo. He is married to Feyisetan. He conducted one of the most sought after medical outreach programmes during his political campaign in 2001.

Peter Ayodele Fayose was the PDP flag bearer in the 2014 Governorship election in Ekiti State slated for 21 June 2014. He won the election and has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the new Governor, Ekiti State; and was inaugurated on 16 Oct 2014. Fayose also extended to working with Fayemi so as to ensure peace. APC lawmakers at the Ekiti State House of Assembly have served Gov. Ayo Fayose an impeachment notice, and have given him 7 days to respond. This would make him the first Nigerian governor to be impeached twice in office.

On 20 June 2014, Captain Sagir Koli from the 32nd Artillery Brigade stationed in Ekiti State, accompanied his Commanding Officer, Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh to a meeting at the Spotless Hotel in Ado-Ekiti. The meeting was attended by Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Senator Iyiola Omisore; a man identified as a member of the National Assembly Abdulkareem; the former Minister for Police Affairs Caleb Olubolade, the then Minister of Police Affairs Jelili Adesiyan and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro who was the Minister of State for Defence. Captain Sagir Koli made an audio recording of that meeting, which was then made public by the online news website Sahara Reporters, on 5 February 2015. About a week later, Sahara Reporters released the actual audio recording on the Internet.

That meeting among others, discussed the following:

The use of the Nigerian Armed Forces personnel by the ruling PDP party to assist in electoral manipulation.
The creation of a list of senior opposition APC members, including Mr Daramola the APC Fayemi campaign manager, without any reason, by the Nigerian Armed Forces
The use of "National Security Task" stickers to be used to identify persons not to be harassed and detained by the army
Deployment of "Special Team" including a "Strike Force"
The minister of state of defence Obanikoro bribing military personnel with the offer of promotion if he carries out the "strategy", failing which the brigadier-general will not be promoted.
A gubernatorial candidate Fayose admitting to electoral fraud by copying voting material provided by the INEC
The reprimanding of Brig. Gen Momoh for mistakenly detaining PDP members engaged in blatant electoral fraud
The minister explicitly states he was instructed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan to execute this plan.
Fayose explicitly states he was given assurances by the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff to rig the Ekiti governor election.[4]

In that June 2014 election, Fayose was massively voted in as the governor of Ekiti State.

In a sworn affidavit, Capt. Sagir also admitted that "they succeeded in rigging the Ekiti State election with victory in all the 16 Local Governing Authorities (LGAs). These really inspired them and they were with the euphoria that same would happen in Osun State. Indeed, leading into the Osun State elections the Brigadier General posted there was told to take a three-week leave during the elections. His position was temporarily filled by General Momoh, who then repeated the same fraudulent tactics in Osun."
