Former Governor Mukhtar Yero
Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is a Nigerian politician who was appointed as the Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance from 2007 to May 2010. In May 2010, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa named him as the Deputy Governor.
Yero was born on 1 May 1968 in Anguwar Kaura, Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State. He attended LEA Primary School Kaura from 1974-1980 and went to Government Secondary School Ikara, Zaria from 1980-1985. Yero completed his School Education in 1986.
He started his education when he enrolled into LEA Primary School, Angwan Kaura in Zaria Local Government from 1974 to 1980. Immediately he completed his Primary School, he gained admission into Government Secondary School, Ikara and later Government Day Secondary School, Zaria thus completing his Secondary School in 1986 and obtained his West African School Certificate.
Between 1986 and 2003, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Diploma in Banking, B.Sc in Accounting and a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Between 2003 and 2004, his quest for professionalism in his chosen career took him to the College of Accountancy, Jos where he obtained a membership of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero's working career started when, as a Youth Copper, 1991 – 1992, he served as an Assistant Accountant with the Ogun State Bulk Purchasing Corporation in Ibara, Abeokuta.
Between 1992 – 1993, he returned to his alma mater, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he was employed as a Higher Executive Officer (Accounts). Between 1993 – 1997, he moved to Nigerian Universal Bank Limited, Kaduna as Supervisor (Accounts) in the Head Office Accounts Department and later Supervisor, Officer Grade III at the Sabon Tasha Branch.
In may 2010, when His Excellency, the then Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, late Sir. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was elevated to the position of executive Governor of the State, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero became the Deputy Governor.
When His Excellency late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa won the PDP’s gubernatorial ticket last year as its flag bearer in the 2011 general elections, he picked His Deputy, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero as running mate and on that ticket they won the general election.
