TIGA/CHALAWA GORGE DAMS POWER PROJECT

The State Government has planned to utilize the existing Tiga and Challawa Gorge dams to generate electric power while maintaining their primary purpose of irrigation.

A feasibility study was carried out and EPC Contractors were invited to bid based on 10MW and 7MW generation for Tiga and Challawa Gorge respectively. All contract processes has been concluded and the Project will commence before the end of 2012.

A development collaboration with National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to generate power from three (3) other dams; Gari, Wase and Watari is also being undertaken by the State Government. This project is at the feasibility study stage.
